Description:
One of the most important things to know about coriander seeds is how they germinate. Split seeds germinate much more quickly than whole seeds, according to a study. This was confirmed during the soaking process. When it came time to plant the cilantro, the trays were covered, with a blackout towel. The blackout period was over after four days. The split cilantro seeds had sown and were larger than the whole seed. The traditional way to split coriander seeds is to use heavy or hard objects to crush the seeds. This will ruin the seeds, so it is best to buy high-quality coriander seeds from a grocery store. Coriander seedlings can be planted close together, but should be planted at least 1/2 inch apart. The coriander plants need at least 4-5 hours of sunlight per day. You can also save the seeds and plant them next year. To grow cilantro in containers, select a 12" (30 cm) pot, with extra compost. If you choose to grow cilantro in a pot, add worm castings and alfalfa meal to the mix. For more information, read on: If you are growing cilantro in a container, you can plant the seeds at anytime from late September to late spring. To ensure proper germination, mix cilantro seeds with three parts sand. Make sure you have a deep pot with enough space between rows. Once the seeds have germinated, place them in a sunny spot where they will receive plenty of sunlight. Cilantro should have a temperature between twelve and twenty degrees Celsius.
